As I have previously written on this blog, I am a big fan of the burritos from Como Esta in Palo Alto. I usually get their super burrito, but they also make a mini burrito which has no sour cream or guacamole. I bought one the other day for a family member. Here’s a picture:
As usual, the burrito was great.

The other day I was in need of some quick food, so I grabbed a $1 frozen, carnitas chimichanga at the drugstore, and microwaved it when I got home. Here’s a picture:
I added the salsa myself, obviously. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the chimichanga. Although not outstanding, it was a hell of a lot better than the frozen burritos I ate all through college.

According to the ego killing feedburner badge, writing about stuff other than burritos is steadily driving down my readership. I’ve dropped from 12 readers to 7. So, I’m giving up on cars and I’m going back to burritos.
UPDATE: Just promising to write about burritos has brought back two readers.

I had fajitas for dinner last night. They were from Compadres in Palo Alto, which is the Mexican restaurant I go to most often. Here’s a shot:

I had a green chicken mole burrito from the burrito place in South Park (Mexico au Parc) today. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture of it, but here’s a picture of the plate:

So, tonight I had an al pastor burrito from Como Esta. Como Esta is a burrito place by the Walgreens in mid-town Palo Alto. It’s never struck me as the cleanest burrito place, but the burritos are really good. I usually get the carnitas burrito, but I got there close to closing time and they were all out.
The only annoying thing about Como Esta is that you tend to run into spoiled, whiny residents of Palo Alto while you are there. For example, tonight there was a woman who requested that the overhead fans be turned off (because it was cold), that the non-existent A/C be turned off (she was still cold), that she get a salt shaker to put extra salt on her chips, and about a hundred other annoying demands. In general, though, the burritos are worth running the risk.

For dinner I had half of a veggie burrito from the taco truck. It was extremely spicy, and damn good.

According to my sources, they also have tripe burritos

I ate a Chipotle barbacoa burrito for lunch. It wasn’t that good. Way too salty (as were the accompanying chips). Moreover, they are incapable of wrapping a burrito.

I have had Chipotle burritos several times before, and they all fall apart and leak. Plus, they gave me lettuce after I said no lettuce. If I wasn’t such a burrito addict, I would never eat one again. But, you know I will.
